A exposição As mais altas torres começam no solo baseia-se em um antigo provérbio chinês que valoriza o esforço, a paciência, a resiliência e a perseverança entre outras virtudes. A exposição apresenta através de sinais, analogias e apropriações, um conjunto de obras que desenha um cenário simbólico de construção e evolução gradativa, enquanto explora em diferentes linguagens artísticas o desenvolvimento do pensamento humano. Dessa forma, a mostra serve como um testemunho da complexidade rumo à elaboração e à implementação de futuras etapas, um elogio à mudança, e por fim, uma alegoria e uma homenagem à trajetória da DAN Galeria até o momento.

 

Dividida em dois tomos, cada qual com uma parte fundamental para a sustentação de uma torre como ponto de partida - o alicerce e o eixo -, a exposição se edifica simultaneamente em dois espaços físicos. Essa segmentação se dá não apenas em decorrência da estrutura conceitual da exposição, mas também como um contraponto aos nossos tempos pós-modernos, de consumo rápido, raso e excessivo: concluir a experiencia e visitar a exposição por completo exige tempo e disposição. Abrir novas portas e subir torres colossais - eis a via árdua para desconstruir narrativas convencionais e propiciar abordagens alternativas na arte contemporânea. A seguir um breve resumo das principais idéias de cada volume:

Tomo I - Alicerce: O espaço inicial da galeria prioriza projetos, estudos, maquetes e desenhos, dando ênfase aos primeiros esboços de ideias dos artistas. A origem, os fundamentos, a essência. O alicerce serve como apoio estrutural da torre, é vital para que haja equilíbrio e segurança ao longo da escalada vertical. Apesar da inclusão de obras recentes diretamente ligadas ao mote, neste tomo o moderno e os primórdios do contemporâneo prevalecem, e o conjunto final estabelece um dialogo aberto com o segundo tomo.

Tomo II - Eixo: A nova sede da galeria é o palco central da exposição, onde o encontro do moderno com o contemporâneo se solidifica, o motor que liga ao passado e irá conduzir para o futuro. O eixo é o equivalente vertical ao alicerce, consiste em um suporte continuo no centro da extensão da torre; apesar de invisível é indispensável para o alinhamento, determinante para o progresso bem sucedido e a finalização da construção. Este tomo é a consagração de longas pesquisas, um laboratório de experimentos e um celeiro de novas ideias para a posteridade. O local de visão completa do horizonte - revisitar o ontem e projetar o amanhã.

The exhibition As mais altas torres começam no solo [The highest towers rise from the ground] is based on an ancient Chinese proverb that values effort, patience, resilience and perseverance, among other virtues. The exhibition presents, through signs, analogies and appropriations, a set of works that outlines a symbolic scenario of construction and gradual evolution, while exploring through different artistic languages the development of human thought. In this way, the show serves as a testament to the complexity towards the elaboration and implementation of future stages, as a praise for change, and finally, as an allegory and a tribute to DAN Galeria's trajectory so far.

 

Divided into two volumes, each taking a fundamental piece in the support of a tower as a starting point – the foundation and the axis –, the exhibition is built in two physical spaces simultaneously. This segmentation occurs not only as a result of the conceptual structure of the exhibition, but also as a counterpoint to our post-modern times, of fast, shallow and excessive consumption: completing the experience and visiting the exhibition in full requires time and willingness. Opening new doors and climbing colossal towers – this is the hard way to deconstruct conventional narratives and provide alternative approaches in contemporary art. A brief summary of the main ideas of each volume follows:

 

Volume I – Foundation: The gallery's initial space prioritizes projects, studies, models and drawings, emphasizing the first sketches of the artists' ideas. The origin, the fundamentals, the essence. The foundation serves as the structural support of the tower, it is vital for balance and safety throughout the vertical climb. Despite the inclusion of recent works directly linked to the motto, in this volume the modern and the beginnings of the contemporary prevail, and the final set establishes an open dialogue with the second volume.

 

Volume II – Axis: The gallery's new headquarters is the central stage of the exhibition, where the encounter of the modern with the contemporary is solidified, the engine that connects to the past and will lead to the future. The axis is the vertical equivalent of the foundation, consisting of a continuous support in the center of the tower's extension; although invisible, it is indispensable for its alignment, which is decisive for the successful progress and completion of construction. This volume is the consecration of long research, a laboratory of experiments and a storehouse of new ideas for posterity. The place to see the horizon in full – revisit yesterday and design for tomorrow.
